Want free Wi-Fi on your next Delta flight? Sign up for its SkyMiles program before takeoff, and you’ll be able to tap into complimentary wireless access on the ground and in the air.
Delta’s free on-board Wi-Fi will roll out starting Feb. 1. Look for it on 700 Viasat-equipped aircraft by the end of 2023 and on international and regional aircraft by the end of 2024.
It comes courtesy of a partnership with T-Mobile, which already offered free Wi-Fi to its customers on Delta flights (as well as(Opens in a new window) American, Alaska Airlines, and United Airlines) via its “Coverage Beyond” service. It’s now extending that to all passengers, regardless of which wireless carrier they have, provided they are members of Delta’s free SkyMiles program(Opens in a new window).
“At T-Mobile, we believe staying connected while traveling should be an easy, seamless experience,” T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert said in a statement(Opens in a new window). “T-Mobile customers already get free in-flight Wi-Fi and now we’re partnering with Delta to bring that experience to all customers.”

“At work, at home, and everywhere in between, connectivity is essential to daily life, and your journey on Delta should be no different,” CEO Ed Bastian announced at CES in Las Vegas. “Our vision has long been to deliver an experience at 30,000 feet that feels similar to what our customers have available on the ground.”
Starting next month, keep an eye out for Delta’s new blue-and-white decal near the boarding door to determine whether you’re flying on a free-Wi-Fi-ready craft. Once seated, enter your SkyMiles number and password; or join directly from the login page, if needed. Those who prefer to connect without a SkyMiles account can buy internet access for $10 per device per flight.
“Stream, browse, email, scroll, swipe—you name it, we’ve tested it,” the company said in its FAQ(Opens in a new window). “We put our Wi-Fi through meticulous testing to ensure it can deliver an experience like what you would find at home.”

Delta first tested free Wi-Fi on domestic flights in 2019. In 2021, it began outfitting nearly all domestic mainline craft with Viasat Ka-Band wireless access, which was available for a flat fee of $5 per flight. Last year, it teased free Wi-Fi by 2023.
