Holly Murray is hiding a dark secret during the day – but as soon as nightfall arrives her jaw-dropping transformation begins giving her bricklayer husband the fright of his life
By day, mum-of-two Holly Murray is a beautiful Disney princess… but at night she transforms into utter monsters.
The self-taught make-up artist and face painter was working as a princess at children’s parties until she combined her skills with her love of horror movies.
And the result is these jaw-dropping transformations, including Shrek, Cruella de Vil, Beetlejuice, Pennywise from Stephen King’s It, and The Grinch.
Holly, who lives with her bricklayer husband Jacob, also 31, and kids William, 10, and Elizabeth, seven, says: “I’d have a full day working as a princess, then come home, feed and put the kids to bed and start turning myself into Chucky or Pennywise.
“My husband would come up to the bedroom and I’d be dripping in blood or looking like something horrific and he would say, ‘Jesus Christ, you’ve scared the c**p out of me!’”
By sharing the extraordinary looks on TikTok, the talented artist amassed 7.7 million followers. She tripled her income and was named a 2022 breakthrough creator.
Holly, from Accrington, Lancs, says: “I love being able to come out of this nervous person called Holly and turn into something evil and pretend to be someone else.
“My daughter found it hard at first because she didn’t like scary things.
“It still doesn’t feel real that this is now my job. I never want it to end.”
Always a creative child, Holly had early dreams of making a name for herself.
She says: “I didn’t know what I wanted to do, but whenever anyone asked me I would say, ‘I’m going to be famous’.
“Growing up, my mum made everything from scratch to save money and I very much took that attitude into adulthood, that you can make things yourself.”
Holly discovered her passion when her mum asked her to take part in a charity event nine years ago.
She says: “I’d never face painted anybody in my life. I bought a cheap kit off Amazon and had one week to practise on my one-year-old son and husband.
“I was terrified. But after the panic wore off, I thought actually, this is all right, it looks good!”
Bookings for children’s parties flooded in, leading to the princess work, then to experimenting with latex and plaster of Paris.
Now the mum dedicates entire days and nights to creating her incredible looks and filming the process.
Holly adds: “The kids love waking me up in the morning and asking to watch my video.
“The sky’s the limit. If I ever got the opportunity to act or launch a make-up brand or kit for beginners, I’d snatch it.”
