Dyson just launched the 360 Vis Nav(Opens in a new window) robot vacuum in Australia, claiming it’s the most powerful robot vacuum currently available, as well as being a huge upgrade from the Dyson 360 Eye.
The suction provided by the 360 Vis Nav is generated using a Dyson Hyperdymium electric motor spinning at 110,000rpm, which creates 10 cyclones. The end result, according to Dyson, is suction six times more powerful than any other robot vacuum.
The 360 Vis Nav was created by Dyson engineers located in the UK, Singapore, Philippines, and Malaysia. It uses Dyson Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) technology, a set of 26 sensors, and a 360-degree vision system including a fisheye lens to intelligently clean and avoid obstacles.
Dyson improved corner and edge cleaning by using sensors to detect the edges of a room and then redirecting suction through a side-actuator to maximize the dust collected. A piezo sensor is used to monitor dust levels 15,000 times per second and automatically adjusts suction to collect more when required. There’s also HEPA filtration, which Dyson claims will trap 99.99% of particles as small as 0.1 microns.
Control of the robot is handled via the MyDyson app(Opens in a new window), which offers zone creation and customization, cleaning schedules, rules and routing, and voice control. Software updates for the robot cleaner will be automatically downloaded and installed using your Wi-Fi connection, and four cleaning modes are offered: Auto, Quick, Quiet, and Boost.

As for cleaning time, the 360 Vis Nav can suck for 50 minutes before it needs to head back to the charging dock, and emptying the bin a one-handed affair using a button press.
Dyson says the 360 Vis Nav will be available in Australia from today, and according to Engadget(Opens in a new window), it’s going to cost $2,399 (AUD), which converts to just shy of $1,600 (US). You’d think for that price Dyson would include a self-emptying feature as standard.
