Liverpool are hoping their new-found momentum won’t be halted when they travel across Stanley Park to take on Everton on Saturday.
Fresh off the back of confidence-boosting victories over Bournemouth and Newcastle United, the Reds are out once again to put one over their local rivals in the 241st Merseyside derby.
However, they are up against opponents who have made a solid, if unspectacular, start to a new season that they hope can bring far more than last term’s relegation battle.
Having started with two defeats on the trot, Frank Lampard’s men have drawn their past three matches, each of which ended 1-1.
And they will hope to go one better by putting a dent in their neighbours’ hopes of launching another assault on the Premier League title.

90 mins from kickoff: Liverpool claimed a 4-1 win on their last visit, but that victory broke up a run of four straight draws with Everton at this venue.
With the Toffees having drawn their last three league fixtures, don’t bet against the same result today.

120 mins from kickoff: Greetings from Goodison Park, where a raucous atmosphere is already building outside ahead of the 241st Merseyside derby. These games always deliver drama, but will it be the red or the blue side of the city of Liverpool who end the day with the bragging rights?
Everton vs. Liverpool team news
Liverpool received a double injury boost ahead of beating Newcastle, with Joel Matip and Curtis Jones coming back in to take a place on the bench.
There could be further good news on the fitness front prior to the derby, with Diogo Jota expected to be ready to claim a place in the squad. Meanwhile, Darwin Nunez is available after serving a three-match suspension and Arthur Melo could be available if his registration is processed in time.
However, midfielder Jordan Henderson now has a hamstring problem and will join goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, defenders Calvin Ramsay and Ibrahima Konate, and midfielders Naby Keita and Thiago Alcantara in missing out.
Liverpool predicted lineup (4-3-3): Alisson (GK) — Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, Gomez, Robertson — Carvalho, Fabinho, Elliot — Salah, Firmino, Diaz.
As for Everton, their injury list is unlikely to clear before the derby, with Andros Townsend, Ben Godfrey, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Yerry Mina, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Mason Holgate all ruled out.
They could, though, include new signings Idrissa Gana Gueye and James Garner should they be registered in times.
Everton predicted lineup (4-3-3): Pickford (GK) — Patterson, Tarkowski, Coady, Mykolenko — Onana, Davies, Iwobi — McNeil, Gray, Gordon.
