Justin Fields injury update, Week 12 fantasy outlook

UPDATE: NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Monday afternoon that Fields is “day to day” and that there is more optimism from Bears’ coaches surrounding his status than there was on Sunday night.

Fields (shoulder) injured his left, non-throwing shoulder in the latter stages of Sunday’s 27-24 loss to the Falcons and was later seen on a cart to receive further examination. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Fields will also receive an MRI on Monday to see if there’s any damage in his shoulder.

Fields was also dealing with hamstring issues, as the second-year signal-caller battled through pain most of the day. Hopefully, Fields receives positive news from today’s MRI, putting him in line to start against the Jets in Week 12. The Jets’ defense has been one of the better units in the league, allowing the 11th-fewest fantasy points per game to QBs (15.3). We’ll get a better feel on Fields’ Week 12 status as the week progresses. Should he get the go-ahead to start, he remains a must-start QB1 despite a tough matchup. Trevor Siemian would start if Fields can’t go, but he wouldn’t be worth considering in single-QB leagues.

Matthew Stafford injury update, Week 12 fantasy outlook

UPDATE: Stafford has entered the league’s concussion protocol.

Stafford (concussion) exited Los Angeles’ Week 11 loss to the Saints in the second half to be evaluated for a concussion. Stafford recently cleared the league’s concussion protocol after missing Los Angeles’ Week 10 contest against the Cardinals, and his status for Week 12 figures to already be in doubt with potentially two concussions in three weeks.

WEEK 12 STANDARD RANKINGS:

A tough year for the defending Super Bowl champions gets worse, as the 3-7 Rams sit in last place in the NFC West. Should Stafford miss the Rams’ Week 12 matchup against the Chiefs in Kansas City, Bryce Perkins or John Wolford (neck) would start under center for Los Angeles. Despite the favorable matchup, neither would be worth using in single-QB formats.
