If you’re a parent who has to get your child to fly on their own, sometimes you may be confused about what to expect, what will happen, and whether there will be people looking after your child when you’re unable to fly with them. If you’ve got family abroad but have to work yourself, sending your child alone may be the only option you have.
But one flight attendant has made a TikTok to try and put parents’ minds at ease when they’re sending their little one on a plane alone, explaining the process in detail to make sure mums and dads understand every detail.

Anastasia Crunk posted a video that stated she was going to ‘explain the process’ of the child flying alone. She then went on to say you can fill in the required forms before arriving at the airport, or when you’re at the airport with your child. She then explained that they will cross reference all the documents.
Anastasia then said they put a necklace around their neck with all the key information needed, such as their flight number and documents. They also get a wristband.
She said: “Then we’re going to get you a gate pass so you can walk your child to the gate and wait with them until they board which is normally first or last on the aircraft.
“We’re going to physically walk the child down to meet the flight attendant and exchange information and then they’re going to be good to go.

“I’m going to have everything signed and I’ll bring a copy up for you, so you’re going to be waiting until the aircraft is pushed back – that’s right, you don’t leave until the aircraft is pushed back and I give you the form that is signed.”
She then went on to explain what happens on the other side, when the child has reached their destination.
Anastasia continued: “And then when they arrive we call the guardian who is going to be picking them up and then we either give them a gate pass so they can be waiting at the gate for the child, or walk them to the counter at the bags and services office so they can be picked up, and we give them a signed form to verify the documents.”
In the comments, people praised the woman for sharing the information as some of them didn’t know that kids were able to fly alone.
One wrote: “Thank you for the great information!”
Another said: “I used to fly like this from the time I was 8 until I was too old for it. I loved it as a kid. Just sucks being the last one off the plane.”
On point. It was legit like this when my son flew. Hassle-free and very informative”, another mum wrote.
