A mum has been left seething after a roll of £20 B&M wallpaper just wouldn’t stick to her walls, despite her having tried for more than a month to apply it

A mum who bought a roll of £20 wallpaper from B&M was left boiling with anger after it just wouldn’t stick to her living room walls, despite her efforts. Miriam Beck, 46, said she had hoped to ‘spruce up’ her living room area after her son and his partner moved out, and splashed out a grand total of £146 on wallpaper, paint and brushes.
However, as previously reported by the Daily Record, Miriam’s enthusiasm for her DIY project turned to despair, after she failed to stick the sparkly silver paper to her walls no fewer than seven times over the course of one month. She used super glue, heavy-duty paste, edge glue, no more nails, and spray adhesive during her repeated attempts, but to no avail.

Miriam, who says she’s usually quite good at putting up wallpaper, said: “I would put it up one day and the following morning I would go into the living room and see it had fallen down.
“It kept happening again and again to the point where I had to take it down and clean the walls to restart. I wish I had just painted them. I kept trying to stick down the wallpaper for over a month.”
After making a complaint to B&M, Miriam, from Bathgate says the customer service team told her it could be a supplier issue and asked her to return the paper to the West Lothian store where she had first purchased it.
However, after returning to the store with the wallpaper, Miriam claims she was laughed at by members of staff, and now says she’s “literally had enough.”

Miriam, who says she’s written to the owners without receiving a response, added: “I’m getting to the stage where they think I’m just going to go away. The wallpaper was expensive so I’m going to do that.
“I write to them every other week and they just keep asking me to send pictures or they’ll say it’s a supplier issue. The thing that’s bothering me is that I bought it from B&M – not their supplier.”
A B&M spokesperson said: “Unfortunately, on this occasion, the customer did not follow the application instructions on the wallpaper. This product is a ‘Paste the Wall’ product, and the customer pasted the paper when she first applied it.
“As a gesture of goodwill, we have contacted the customer to provide her with a full refund of the paper she purchased. We’d advise any customers in future to ensure they read the instructions carefully before they start any wallpaper DIY project”.
