Germany vs. Japan live: World Cup score, highlights, result from 2022 Group E match

Germany begin their “Group of Death” at this year’s World Cup with a tricky opening test against Japan as the four-time champions get their tournament underway at the Khalifa International Stadium.

With Spain and Costa Rica making up the rest of Group E, both sides today know dropping points isn’t an option if they want to stand a decent chance of progressing to the knockout stages.

Luckily for the Germans, they do have Thomas Muller in their ranks and he enters the 2022 World Cup as the record active goalscorer. He has 10 goals so far – the joint-eighth most in history.

Japan will be no easy opponent though, they reached Qatar after winning 15 of their 18 qualification matches (D1, L2) by an aggregate scoreline of 58-6.
