It’s still 2022 but soon to be 2023 and these are the fashions that people are leaving behind for the new year. Do you agree or are these fashions your jam?
Fanny Packs
They were a thing in the 80s and beyond and have recently come back. But it turns out, we’re over it. Fanny packs went from wrapping dad bods to accentuating celebrity’s waists. But of course, the fanny packs of today look very different than the fanny packs of yore. Apparently crossbody bags have also went out, though they are quite popular right now.
Big Lips
Big lips are such a thing but they really took off in 2015. Do you remember the social media challenge encouraging teenagers to use suction bottles to temporarily plump their lips? (Are any of these new challenges ever good? Geez.) Lips were harmed in the process, as it goes against medical advice and reason. If you want big lips, there are other ways to achieve them, without any kind of intervention or shots. Get imaginative with your lip color, not only by choosing the right color for your face but you can even “overfill” your lips using makeup and a YouTube tutorial. Suction cup lips is one of those fashions people are leaving behind, and for good reason.
Chokers
Chokers came back about the same time fanny packs did, but they really have never been cute. Celebrities influenced this revival in a big way, as they often do, and women everywhere started wearing them again. There are so many different options from bold to dainty, animal print or statement making, but if they did have a moment, it’s most definitely been had. Let’s get back to longer necklaces, maybe even layered or chunky chain necklaces. Flowy jewelry is more fun anyhow!
Animal Print
Speaking of animal print, specifically leopard print. It’s out, too. It comes in and out of style throughout the years but as for 2023, we should be done with it. The thing is, there will always be animal print lovers out there so in a sense, there will always be someone keeping it in. Switch up your animal prints for velvets or plaid in the chilly season and light, pretty pastels once it starts to warm up again. Is this going to be a fashion that people leave behind?
Patchwork Jeans
Another 80s and 90s fad that became a style again for a minute is patchwork jeans. Wide leg jeans are starting to resurface and patchwork jeans are no longer a thing, if they ever even were? Do you want to keep this fashion that people are leaving behind, or trying to?
Baby Bangs
Do you remember when everyone was cutting their bangs into ultra-short and choppy bangs? It only makes your forehead look bigger, so unless that’s a look you’re going for, you’d probably fare best to stray away. The cut is so funky that you could have people wondering if it was a bangs cutting gone bad.
Giant Bags
Most of us can admit to having a giant purse a time or two in our lives, they are just easy. But this is a fashion that people are leaving in 2022. Not only does it throw your body off when you carry a heavy bag around on the same shoulder every day, as most of us don’t switch it up, but the bigger the bag the more you can stuff into it. This causes all types of shoulder and back pain and do we really need to carry around our entire lives with us? Clean out your big bag and if you can keep it clean, it could be super handy and not heavy. But if you cannot keep it cleaned out, switch to a smaller bag and make it work. They are cuter, work well and won’t weigh you down, literally.
Rainbow Hair
This trend has come and gone for the past couple of years but it really is hard to keep up and damages your hair pretty badly in the process. It will only look really vibrant for a short time because the color washes out really quickly and your hair will grow out right behind it as well. There are just so many options when it comes to hair color, do you really have to pick all of them at once?
