Millions across the country waited with bated breath as the Powerball numbers were read on Tuesday.
And it wasn’t just the winner who walked out happy.
Because the winning lottery ticket was sold at Joe’s Service Center in Altadena, Cal., a gas station owned by Joe Chahayed.

If that name is unfamiliar, perhaps you know his son-in-law: former Bengals DT Domata Peko Sr.
Peko shared the news on his social media, confirming an earlier report by TMZ.

Chahayed, who came to the United States from Syria with his wife and two children, netted a cool $1 million on account of his sale. He told reporters that he had sold a few Super Lotto and Fantasy 5 tickets in the past, stubs that sometimes got into the thousands. This one blows it out of the water, though.
Joe Chahayed said they have sold some winning tickets before. Super Lotto, Fantasy 5. He recalled there was a ticket worth $8,000 to $9,000. He believes the winner is a local.
