Homemade scotch eggs just hit so differently than ones you can buy in the supermarket – especially when they have a deliciously runny yolk. But did you know you can actually cook them in your air fryer, saving time and money? Your air fryer is cheaper than running your oven – so it’s a no-brainer.
Air frying addict Jen aka @airfry_jen has taken to TikTok to show people how to make the best scotch egg – and you can cook it for the perfect yolk to suit you and your preferences. So, if you want the yolk to be runnier, you cook it for less time. But there’s one guarantee – it will be delicious.

Jen uploaded a step-by-step guide showing how to best air fry your scotch eggs to make them taste divine – and the ingredients are briefly shown at the start of the video.
You’ll need eggs, sausage meat, and breadcrumbs to make the mouth-watering treat.
Then, you need to pop the eggs into the air fryer at 170 degrees for ten minutes if you want a hard-boiled egg, and just eight if you prefer your yolk to be runnier. After they’re cooked, remove the shell.
Then, you wrap the shell-less egg in sausage meat, dip it in egg and breadcrumbs twice, spray them with oil, then put them in the air fryer on ‘air fry mode at 200 degrees for 20 minutes’.
When they are pulled out of the air fryer they look delicious, and golden, and when Jen cuts into the snack, the yolk looks yummy.
Many people took to the comments to say they were definitely going to try the hack.
One wrote: “Definitely trying this, thanks.”
“Quality”, someone else complimented.
“Add cheese and we’re talking”, one food fanatic wrote.
Another said: “This will be handy.”
“I keep seeing all these wonderful ideas, right breadcrumbs on shopping list”, one commented.
“They look amazing”, one TikToker praised.
