It is U SPORTS football championship week in Canada, as the 2022 Vanier Cup between the Saskatchewan Huskie and the Laval Rouge et Or is set for today.
Saskatchewan makes its second consecutive appearance in the Vanier Cup, looking to come out on the right side of history in 2022 after falling to the Western Mustangs last year. The Huskies punched their ticket with a 39-16 win over St. Francis Xavier in the Uteck Bowl.
Laval came back from a 17-4 halftime deficit to defeat Western in the 2022 Mitchell Bowl. Laval can add to its historic legacy as a win today would be the 11th Vanier Cup in the university’s history, the most in Canadian university football.
It will be the third meeting for the two universities in the U SPORTS championship football game. Laval defeated Saskatchewan in their previous meetings, which came in 2004 and 2006.

University football fans who want to watch the 2022 Vanier Cup on television can catch the game on CBC TV in Canada. CBC play-by-play announcer Mark Lee will be joined by analyst Dashawn Stephens on the call. They also will be accompanied by Signa Butler and Rob Pizzo on the sidelines.
For the French-speaking audience, the game will be on TVA Sports. Denis Casavant will be on play-by-play duties with Charles Antoine-Sinotte providing color commentary. Mathieu Quiviger and Justin St-Martin will work the sidelines.
