Hyper Recalls Its Stackable Chargers, Battery Packs Due to Fire Risk

If you purchased one of Hyper’s stackable chargers or 130W USB-C battery packs, stop using them immediately and keep reading to find out what to do next.

Hyper Products has issued two voluntary recalls(Opens in a new window) for its power products. The first is for two versions of the HyperJuice Stackable GaN Charger(Opens in a new window), with both the 65W and 100W versions posing a potential fire hazard as they can overheat and catch fire while charging. Hyper explains this is due to a “product design issue.”

The second is for the HyperJuice 130W USB-C Battery Pack(Opens in a new window), which was sold in both grey and silver finishes. Again, Hyper says it’s due to a product design issue that can result in the battery packs overheating during charging and posing a potential fire hazard.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the company sold about 18,200 of the stackable chargers(Opens in a new window) and 13,700 of the battery packs(Opens in a new window). Hyper has received seven reports of the chargers overheating and two reports of the battery packs overheating, which resulted in smoke, melting, and property damage. No injuries have been reported so far, and hopefully none will now the recall has started.

Consumers are being asked to stop using these products immediately and Hyper is contacting customers(Opens in a new window) to offer a refund in the form of a one-time store credit (for the full amount of the purchase price) to use on Hypershop.com(Opens in a new window). The company is also providing a self-addressed prepaid shipping label to return the faulty products, with the credit being issued when Hyper takes delivery of your charger/battery pack.
