‘I banned my husband from going to his mum’s wedding- I crashed it to find him there’

A woman has been left feeling upset after asking her husband not to attend his mother’s wedding as they don’t get on – but finding out later that he went to the big day behind her back

A woman is facing a huge backlash from her in-laws after being furious at her husband for going to his mum’s wedding, when she was uninvited. The wife took to Reddit to explain that she and mother-in-law have never got along and have recently clashed as the mother plans to sell the family home and give her older son more money than the woman’s husband.

As such, the wife was uninvited from the wedding and she had asked her husband not to attend his mother’s nuptials. She thought he would be avoiding the day as well, only to be left shocked when she learned he’d decided to go without telling her.

The wife explained in the post: “Our last disagreement was because of her wanting to sell the family house and give her older son more money than my husband.

“Mother-in-law told me to stay out of it and my husband said he was fine with it. She ended up putting some distance between us and stop inviting me to events. FINE but I told my husband I expect him to stay home with me when I’m uninvited.”

The pair clashed again just days ago when the mother was getting married and she was not invited to the event, but her husband was.

She said: “I asked my husband to promise to stay home with me and not go.

“He got defensive and said that this was his mom’s wedding and there was no reason for him not to attend. I refused to speak to him after a big argument about it and he eventually said that he’d stay home with me.”

However, on the day of the event, the wife became suspicious when her husband said he was going to meet some friends, but when she rang his friends, the husband was not with them.

“I felt betrayed and I wanted to catch him red handed so I got dressed and went to his mom’s wedding. He was actually there,” explained the wife.

On seeing him there, she went over to him and gave him a piece of her mind, which caused a stir in the venue with other guests starting to notice the arguing duo.

“He got defensive saying he really wanted to be there for his mom and at the same time couldn’t handle me being upset with him and giving him silence so he hid it from me,” stated the wife.

Since the day, the pair have barely spoken with the wife feeling betrayed and the husband’s family have told his wife how unreasonable she is being.

Many have been quick to support the husband and state that the wife was out of line.

One said: “It’s her money, it’s her wedding. Just because you don’t get along doesn’t mean you have the right to act like a FOOL at her wedding which you weren’t even invited to.”

While another said: “Wow….. Control freak much? This is his mother, and you have no right to try to tell your husband he can’t have anything to do with her or go to her wedding bc your eggshell feelings are hurt.”
