A Christmas-lover shared the reason she leaves her festive fir up long after the season has ended for most – and people were quick to praise her idea

As January rolls around, most people have already taken down their Christmas tree – or they are preparing to – but a few festive fans will keep up their decorations for much longer. While tradition dictates your tree should come down on the Twelfth Night to avoid bad luck, some families think their lives are better for having the decorations around.
One woman who loves to keep up her tree for longer than most has shared why she’ll often leave it be for months, not removing it until July in some cases. The tree-lover shared her explanation in a post to the Magical Holidays of Christmas group on Facebook.

Posting a picture of her decorated tree, Leesa wrote: “Still Christmas for me. Still listening to Christmas music. Still have family gatherings to attend. My tree stays up through the end of January.
“Some years longer if I feel like it. Looks good on New Year’s Eve, even Valentine’s Day.”
In a comment, she added: “No need to end it so abruptly. Gotta [sic] be sure I get my fill of Christmas to hold me over till next year. I have had a few years I kept the tree up till May. July even one year.”
In response, many people were quick to agree it can be nice to leave up your decorations for ‘a little longer’, as Leesa called it. One supporter said: “I kept ours up till March last year.. I can’t understand people who want to take it down before new years eve.”
A second wrote: “Enjoy the season to the fullest! As long as it brings you joy, why not?”
Another agreed: “I totally agree with you. Christmas music whenever I want. My tree will change to to a winter tree. Yours is pretty!”
While a different commenter said: “I actually decorate mine for Valentine’s and then take it down at the end of Feb. It’s like a huge plant in my house and brings me joy.”
Not everyone was so convinced, however. Explaining why the idea is not for them, one person replied: “No, we mustn’t become obsessed by Christmas trees and decorations. To everything there is a season..I love pretty decor also, but all good things come to an end.”
A second thought: “Depends if it’s a live or artificial tree, had to take live tree’s down the next day after Christmas.”
Meanwhile, someone else said: “I can’t wait to take mine down and get my living room back!”
