A parent has opened up about their choice of baby name, admitting that, while they don’t exactly regret their decision, the realisation of what their initials would spell out left them feeling ‘stressed’

Choosing a first and middle name for your child is never going to be an easy process, especially with so many possible hidden meanings and connotations to avoid – and that’s before you factor in what their initials would look like. In fact, it’s probably best to write down your chosen initials and have a closer look before going all in on that beautiful middle name.
As many parents can no doubt attest, baby name regret is all too real, especially when the moniker in question signifies something you absolutely wouldn’t want to be associated with your precious newborn child. One parent has learned this lesson all too well, having decided upon an unfortunate arrangement of letters for their initials.

The parent recently shared their regrets in answer to a recent Reddit thread about baby name regrets, with the original poster remarking that it was ‘awesome that such an important (and common) topic is getting visibility’. Although they listed some of the more commonly cited regrets in this area – from mispronunciations to being ‘too trendy’ – they missed out on one particularly frustrating regret: initials.
Sharing their story in response to the post, the parent, who goes by the username @Beetjuice98, revealed: “Not exactly a ‘regret,’ but I stressed a lot about what my baby’s initials would be.”
The initials turned out to be ‘LSD’. The parent decided against using their first name in the end, not wanting their bundle of joy to have initials you would usually associate with a hallucinogenic drug.
It turned out they were far from the only person with second thoughts in this area, with another fellow parent recalling: “Well, I had my baby, and my initials are TRD. The first thing my grandpa said when he heard the name was ‘aw… his initials are TuRD. Biggest facepalm ever.”
