‘I’m having a child-free wedding but my brother insists on bringing his miracle baby’

His brother suggested that because the son is a miracle baby he should be able to come to the wedding as he will bring blessings for the marriage – but the groom disagrees

A man has faced a huge backlash from his brother for not allowing his son to attend his child-free wedding, despite the fact the boy is a ‘miracle baby’. The soon-to-be married man took to Reddit to explain his brother persistently asked whether an exception could be made for his son, so in the end the man had to take drastic action to get his point across.

In the post, the groom, who remained anonymous, explained: “We’ve decided wedding’s gonna be childfree. No hate towards children just to keep it more organized [sic] and contained.

“My brother and his wife have a three- year-old son who everyone calls ‘miracle’ or ‘rainbow’ baby.”

The author went onto explain that his brother and the wife have had difficulties in the past with a couple of failed pregnancies.

However, the brother tried to get his son invited to the wedding and did not give up easily when the groom-to-be refused.

The groom explained: “When they found out that my nephew was included in the no children rule; they tried to convince me to make an exception for him.

“Chris told me his son is a miracle baby and his presence at the wedding will bring ‘blessings’ for me and my fiancé. I refused and said no, the wedding is childfree.

“His wife kept sending my fiancé pics of my nephew when he was months old. I told them no, and to stop.”

However, the parents of the miracle baby were persistent and his brother claimed that this ruling might cause a rift in their relationship going forward.

The man decided then to take drastic action to get his point across when he knew they were not going to stop, but the parents were less than impressed with how the situation was handled.

The Reddit poster explained: “I knew they weren’t going to stop so I’d made flash cards in advance with the phrase the wedding is childfree, period.”

“I pulled them out and started slowly showing them the flash cards one by one.”

But the parents were not happy with this and have since berated him for how he handled things.

He said: “They’re telling everyone about the amount of disrespect and mockery I had displayed towards them and I’m being told to fix it now.”

In response many have been quick to support the groom, with one saying: “They kept pushing the boundary and you held it firm in probably the funniest way possible.”

While another stated: “They won’t be at the wedding. Good on you. I’m so tired of people saying ‘but it’s my miracle baby!’ Every baby is a miracle, and theirs isn’t special.”
