Instagram is revamping its Home Feed navigation bar.
Starting next month, the social network plans to axe the Shop tab and move its Create shortcut front and center at the bottom of the screen.
This refresh, according to Instagram head Adam Mosseri(Opens in a new window), aims to simplify the platform, making it easier to access the most-used features: Home, Search, Create, Reels, and Profile.
The in-app shopping feature isn’t going anywhere, though. Folks will still be able(Opens in a new window) to set up and run a virtual store, and users can continue ordering products in Feed, Stories, Reels, and ads.

“The idea here is to simplify Instagram and focus it more on what we’re trying to do,” Mosseri said. “We’re trying to bring people together over what they love” by inspiring creativity, discovering new things, and sparking connections. “We hope this new, simpler version of Instagram focuses more on those three things,” he added.
Like most social media sites, Instagram experienced an explosion in use during COVID-19. In November 2020, the firm introduced Reels and Shop tabs to the navigation bar, highlighting the two most popular aspects of the pandemic-era internet.
