Is Chuba Hubbard playing Thursday night? Fantasy injury update for Falcons-Panthers Week 10 Thursday Night Football (Updated)

In the aftermath of the Christian McCaffery trade, Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard generated fantasy value with some uncertainty arising in exactly how Carolina would divvy up their backfield duties. After a solid performance in Week 7, Hubbard missed the Panthers’ past two games because of an ankle injury, opening the door for D’Onta Foreman to take the RB1 job and run with it. Hubbard has a chance to make his return to the field this Thursday night when Carolina hosts Atlanta, but he’ll surely get pegged with a “questionable” tag leading into TNF. Will the second-year Oklahoma State product play in Week 10?

We’ll continue to update this article with news on Hubbard until the official active/inactive report comes out on Thursday around 6:50 p.m. ET.

Is Chuba Hubbard playing Thursday night Week 10?

UPDATE: Hubbard (ankle) practiced in full on Tuesday, boosting his chances of playing this Thursday.

UPDATE 2: Hubbard (ankle) practiced in full again on Wednesday and is officially “questionable” for Thursday’s game.

UPDATE 3: Hubbard is officially ACTIVE.

After failing to practice ahead of Week 8, Hubbard (ankle) logged two limited sessions last week but missed Friday’s practice before being ruled out in Week 9. To begin this week, Hubbard was estimated to be “limited” if Carolina practiced on Monday, according to the team’s official injury report. It’s certainly a step in the right direction for his TNF prospects, and if he’s able to participate in Tuesday and Wednesday’s sessions, look for Hubbard to return to game action.

WEEK 10 STANDARD RANKINGS:

While his return is a plus for Carolina, the Panthers’ backfield situation shouldn’t particularly entice fantasy owners. Hubbard started and received the bulk of the early carries for Carolina in Week 7, but with 100-yard games in Weeks 7 and 8 before last week’s game-script-affected dud, D’Onta Foreman is likely to remain the RB1. Additionally, fellow RBs Raheem Blackshear and Spencer Brown got some run last week — albeit in garbage time — and they could continue to be somewhat involved.

WEEK 10 PPR RANKINGS:
QBs | RBs | WRs | TEs | D/STs | Kickers

Hubbard currently sits as SN Fantasy’s No. 40 RB in PPR formats for Week 10, as he’ll likely remain on the majority of fantasy owners’ benches in shallower leagues. Hubbard’s shown some explosiveness, averaging six yards per touch, and gets a solid matchup against a middle-of-the-pack Falcons rush defense, but unless you’re in desperate need of a bye-week fill-in, starting Hubbard likely won’t result in a big fantasy day. He does profile as a flex play in deep leagues, but Blackshear’s emergence figures to cut into his workload even more so. Foreman is still in play as a solid RB2 until we see otherwise.
