JC Jackson injury update: Chargers All-Pro cornerback set to miss 2-4 weeks after ankle surgery

The Chargers’ impressive defensive back corps took a hit Tuesday. Cornerback JC Jackson is slated to miss some time after undergoing ankle surgery, the team announced Tuesday afternoon.

Jackson recently inked a five-year, $82.5 million deal to join Los Angeles. Jackson’s contract makes him one of the highest-paid defensive backs in the league. It’s hard to argue he doesn’t deserve it; the Maryland alum earned second-team All-Pro honors as a Patriot last year, picking off eight passes.

Here is everything you need to know about Jackson’s injury, as well as a timetable for his return to the field.

How long is JC Jackson out?

JC Jackson will miss 2-4 weeks after undergoing an operation on his ankle. Jackson didn’t participate in Monday’s practice as a result of the undisclosed injury. However, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the procedure was a minor one.

With a timetable of 2-4 weeks, Jackson’s status for the Chargers’ Week 1 game against the Raiders is up in the air. If he were to miss the game, that would snap Jackson’s 64-game iron man streak, per the Boston Globe’s Ben Volin.
