Injuries continue to pile up early in the 2022 season for the Chargers.
EDGE Joey Bosa had to leave Sunday’s game against the Jaguars in the first quarter with an injury, and did not return. He was later ruled out of the contest.
Bosa had been trying to rush Trevor Lawrence, but slipped as he was trying to get around the edge. He laid on the ground as medical staff came over to look at him, and he walked with a limp on the sideline.

Joey Bosa injury update
Bosa is going to be out for a bit. On Wednesday, coach Brandon Staley told reporters Bosa would be placed on the injured reserve after undergoing surgery for his groin injury.
Staley said he expects Bosa will return during the 2022 campaign.
The #Chargers are placing star DE Joey Bosa on IR. Bosa suffered a “significant” groin injury that will now require surgery during Sunday’s loss to Jacksonville. They do expect him back this season.

Monday Morning Quarterback’s Albert Breer said after the game the injury reminded him of the one sustained by Nick Bosa at MetLife Stadium in 2020 when he slipped on the turf.
Chargers DE Joey Bosa’s injury looked eerily similar to his brother Nick’s injury at MetLife in 2020—not in the type of injury it is, but in how he slipped on the artificial surface without much contact.
