The 2022 NFL Draft was, among other things, a love letter to edge rushers.
Whether it was Travon Walker, Aidan Hutchinson or Kayvon Thibodeaux, it seems every team was looking for a a player who could terrorize quarterbacks in the backfield.
Thibodeaux, the Giants’ No. 5 pick, has long been touted for excellence. However, the newly-minted pro might have to wait a little longer to make his regular season bow.
Here’s the latest on Thibodeaux’s health after he was taken out of New York’s preseason game against Cincinnati.

Kayvon Thibodeaux injury update
Thibodeaux suffered an apparent right knee injury early in the second quarter of Sunday’s game.
Thibodeaux appeared to have suffered the ailment after receiving a cut block to the right knee. The Michigan alum tried to make a play on Bengals running back Chris Evans, but was felled by a low block from Cincy tight end Thaddeus Moss. Thibodeaux crumbled to the ground and reached for his right knee immediately.

The Giants tried to bring the cart out to take their top selection to the sideline. But Thibodeaux waved it off, limping to the sidelines before going to the medical tent for further examination.
Other angles of the cut block show just how bad it could have been for the Giants first round pick, with some accusing Moss of a dirty play.

New York ruled Thibodeaux out for the rest of the game. But despite the brutal nature of Moss’ block, it seems the Giants are confident that Thibodeaux avoided a major injury, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
While the #Giants quickly ruled out first-round pick Kayvon Thibodeaux after taking a shot to the knee, my understanding is there’s initial optimism he avoided a major injury.

Thibodeaux appeared to be in good spirits on the sidelines shortly after suffering the ailment, smiling as he talked to some of his Giants’ teammates.
