Laver Cup 2022 full schedule and results: When is Roger Federer playing next?

Roger Federer signed off from competitive tennis during a densely-packed weekend of elite action at the Laver Cup 2022.

Team Europe are defending a flawless record in their four showdowns with Team World so far, the first three of which featured Federer ranked no lower than number three in the world.

The event changes location each year, and this time sporting legend Federer and a European team including the likes of Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are heading for London’s O2 Arena, which will feel like home to one of their teammates, two-time Wimbledon champion Andy Murray.

When is Roger Federer playing at the Laver Cup 2022?

The final match of Federer’s competitive career was alongside Rafael Nadal – one of the only players who can rival his place in tennis legacy, having won 22 Grand Slam titles – in the doubles on Friday evening.

Bjorn Borg is the captain of Team Europe 2022, with Thomas Enqvist as vice-captain. “I talked about Bjorn Borg,” Federer said in a press conference before the cup.

“I don’t think he returned to Wimbledon for 25 years. I don’t think I’ll be that guy and I feel tennis has given me too much. I have been around the game for too long. I have fallen in love with too many things.

“I love seeing people again and that’s kind of what I wanted to let the fans know – that you’ll see me again. Not just never again.

“Now what it could be, in what capacity, I don’t know. So I still have to think about it a little bit, but I will give myself time.”
