Bronny James, 17, is entering the recruitment phase of his basketball career, and it’s off and running.
Bronny, who is on track to be a freshman in the 2023-24 college basketball season, has already been tentatively linked to the usual suspects: Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, UNC, etc. But reportedly, another front-runner emerged this week: The Oregon Ducks.
At least, they did.
LeBron James isn’t having rumors around his son’s recruitment go too crazy just yet. He tweeted Tuesday night that Bronny is a long way from even thinking about starting to make decisions.
“He hasn’t taken 1 visit yet and has only had a few calls with coaches and universities,” James said in the tweet. “When Bronny makes his choice you’ll hear it from him.”

Rampant speculation is an inevitability for Bronny until he makes a commitment. He’s one of the top recruits in the country and the son of one of the best basketball players in NBA history. But if LeBron gets his way, his son will do it on his own terms.
Bronny went viral this week with a ridiculous dunk in transition.

The rumor mill is going to keep on churning around the young star. Not only will he bring a lot of talent to whichever school he chooses, but the earning potential is nearly endless. With NIL in play, however, Bronny likely has a long recruitment road ahead.
