Le’Veon Bell vs. Adrian Peterson fight results: Bell brutally KOs Peterson in Social Gloves boxing match

Le’Veon Bell won his boxing fight against fellow former NFL running back Adrian Peterson with a fifth-round knockout Saturday night.

Bell sent Peterson to the canvas with a powerful right hand. The referee quickly called the fight when Peterson appeared woozy after he got up.

While the Social Gloves bout won’t count as an official win for Bell since it was an exhibition fight, it was still a big moment for the former Steelers, Jets, Chiefs, Ravens and Buccaneers running back.

Bell said before the fight he wanted to prove he was “one of the better boxers there is in this world.” When asked after the fight if he plans to turn pro, he responded, “Hell, yeah.”

“Once I hung up the cleats,” Bell said, “this is what I wanted to do.”

The fight itself was a bit of a snoozefest until Bell landed the final punch in the final round. The first four rounds featured practically no punches of value, just very minor jabs from both boxers.

The fight drew plenty of reactions from fans watching.

Le’Veon Bell vs. Adrian Peterson fight results, highlights

Round 5

1:14 a.m.: LE’VEON BELL KNOCKS OUT ADRIAN PETERSON! Out of nowhere, Bell is able to land a punch that ends the fight.

Round 4

1:13 a.m.: It has been a pretty even fight overall, although nothing of note has really happened. It was a little more of the same in this round, with each fighter getting in a few jabs but no punches with any real power behind them. Peterson and Bell obviously are strong, but it takes talent to convert that into power punches. We’re on to the final round.

Round 3

1:10 a.m.: Round 3 is complete. A few more punches were landed, but there wasn’t much weight behind them. As the announcers said, neither boxer has “landed anything of validity.” Nothing to leave anyone impressed with their boxing skills.

Round 2

1:06 a.m.: little more action, but not much. When Bell fell down, it was not officially called a knockdown, although it did look like Peterson caused it. Either way, it was yet another round with very little action. We’ve got three more rounds to go.

1:05 a.m.: We’ve got some action! Bell took a bit of a tumble in the second round, although it looked more like he may have just tripped.

Round 1

1:04 a.m.: As the announcers said at the end of the round: “Nothing.” Not a whole lot happened in this round. No real big punches, no one really got hit. I wish I could provide more information, but that was an extremely lackluster round of boxing.

1:03 a.m.: The broadcasters point out that Adrian Peterson still has a desire to return to the NFL after this boxing match. AP says he’d want to play for the Bills, Rams or 49ers.

1:02 a.m.: Le’Veon Bell is somehow having an issue with his mouthpiece. His trainer can be heard shouting toward him to bite down on it to keep it in place.

1:01 a.m.: The fight between former NFL running backs is underway.

Pre-fight updates:

12:55 a.m.: Bell and Peterson are now making their walks to the ring.

12:52 a.m.: In a promotional video for the fight, Peterson said the biggest difference between football and boxing is the time. He says a play in the NFL will last five to six seconds, whereas a round in boxing in three minutes.

12:50 a.m.: Bell says he’s planning to prove he’s not only the best running back-turned-boxer but also “one of the better boxers there is in this world.” When asked if he plans to continue boxing as his primary career, he responded, “Absolutely. This is what I’m going to do.”

Undercard fight updates

12:44 a.m.: The fight between Landon McBroom and Adam Saleh is over, which means the fight between former NFL running backs is up next. Should be around 10 to 15 minutes until it starts.

12:29 a.m.: The third fight on the main card, Landon McBroom vs. Adam Saleh, has started.

12:12 a.m.: The fight between Cory Wharton and Chase Demoor concluded. It was an exhibition fight, so there’s no official winner. Only one fight to go before we get to Le’Veon Bell vs. Adrian Peterson.

11:56 p.m.: The second fight on the main card has started: Cory Wharton vs. Chase Demoor.

11:41 p.m.: The first fight has concluded, with Abimbola Osundairo winning. We’re now just two fights away from Le’Veon Bell vs. Adrian Peterson.
