Liverpool vs. Brighton live score, updates, highlights & lineups from Premier League match at Anfield

ANFIELD, LIVERPOOL — Liverpool end an 18-day wait for match action as they host Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League.

The Reds claimed a much-needed win over Ajax in their last outing but the postponement of their trip to Chelsea and an international break have conspired to ensure they were unable to quickly build on that victory.

They must hope that momentum has not been lost as they come up against a Brighton side who may well be enjoying new manager bounce.

After losing Graham Potter to Chelsea, the Seagulls moved quickly to appoint Roberto De Zerbi, who could be in for a baptism of fire at one of English football’s most iconic grounds.

The Sporting News is following the match live and providing live score updates and commentary.

He wrote: “No-one here is hiding from the fact we have had a far from ideal start to the campaign. But at the same time, we all see the opportunity that is right in front of us.

“Between now and the break for the World Cup we are ‘game, game, game, game’. It is persistent. It is relentless. But that’s been our life at LFC for as long as I can remember.

Liverpool vs. Brighton lineups

Jordan Henderson makes his return to the Liverpool starting line-up after overcoming a hamstring injury, and there is also a surprise start in the front three for youngster Fabio Carvalho.

The latter’s involvement is a nod to a busy period for the Reds’ international stars, but also allows them to name a strong bench.

Liverpool predicted lineup (4-3-3): Alisson (GK) — Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Tsimikas — Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago — Salah, Firmino, Carvalho

Subs: Gomez, Milner, Adrian, Elliott, Jota, Diaz, Nunez, Arthur, Phillips

Midfielder Enock Mwepu misses out for Brighton after being hospitalised by illness while with Zambia in Mali.

Former Liverpool favourite Adam Lallana (calf) and winger Jeremy Sarmiento (knee) both return but are only fit enough for the bench. Poland prospect Jakub Moder is out until 2023 with an ACL injury.

Brighton predicted lineup (4-2-3-1): Sanchez (GK) — Veltman, Dunk, Webster, Estupinan — Caicedo, Mac Allister — March, Gross, Trossard — Welbeck
