Man blasts roommate for ‘constant stomping’ and mocks her ‘elephant hooves’

A man penned an apology letter to his neighbours below as his roommate’s girlfriend was making so much noise when she walked around the flat – and she was there most of the time

When you have a roommate, the likelihood is that you get on with them to some extent as you’ve chosen to live with them – however, there are no guarantees that you’ll like their partner and be a fan of them.

One man took to Reddit’s ‘neighbour’s from hell’ forum to apologise to his neighbours downstairs on behalf of his roommate’s girlfriend, even going as far as to mock her ‘elephant hooves’.

He claimed that his roommate’s girlfriend even managed to ‘stomp’ while she was on the soft carpet, and went on to question whether people who are noisy when they walk can actually hear the noise they are making.

He furiously wrote: “To the neighbours below me.

“I’m sorry. My new roommate’s girlfriend just loves to stomp her elephant hooves. She manages to even stomp while on the carpet?

“To other stompers, why? Why do you stomp exactly? Does it not hurt? Can you not hear yourself?”

Others took to the comments to share their mutual dislike of people who constantly stomp about.

One wrote: “I’m in awe how some people manage to stomp all the time too.

“Is she aware that she’s doing it? I’ve learned some people really are oblivious and don’t realize [sic] the impact they make or that walking like an elephant isn’t normal.

“If she’s not aware, bring it up to her that the floors are thin or something, and try not to blame her directly because some people get mad for no reason.

“The next thing I’d suggest is getting her to wear slippers as it will dampen some of the noise/impact. If she’s barefoot then all the weight goes into the floor causing vibrations rather than the sole of a slipper and it often is even louder when people don’t realise it.

“If her boyfriend isn’t even on the lease I’d let her and the boyfriend know that her way of walking is disruptive right away.

“It’s one thing to be oblivious or inconsiderate when you belong there but if someone complains and they find out two people are living there that aren’t supposed to then you’re going to have bigger problems than someone stomping around.”

Another fumed: “I suspect they are people who always lived in houses. It never occurs to them that somebody downstairs has to listen to their clomp-clomping.”

Someone else said they had an experience of living with a stomper, writing: “I used to live with a stomper; he’s a small-average-sized guy and would walk around barefoot. We lived in a concrete apartment block with exposed polished floors, and yet he could make the pictures on the walls shake. Astounding.”
