A man has broken his own Guinness World Record for the most baubles in his beard after managing to fit a whopping 710 Christmas ornaments in his facial hair. The ‘beardaments’ are festve clip-on accessories that require a lot of technique to attach – and keep them there.
Joel Strasser from Kuna, Idaho, decked the halls and his own face, to beat his own record as he admits his ‘technique has evolved and gotten a lot more specialised over the years that I’ve been breaking the record’.
Joel first broke the record in 2019 using 302 baubles, then again in 2020 with 542 baubles, and a third time in 2021 with 686 baubles – so it was time for him to retain a new record.
The process is a tedious one, as this year’s bunch took two and a half hours to attach.

He said: “I stuck them in a lot more haphazardly at first and that’s why those first beard bauble record numbers were so low. I’ve been thinking about (adding) candy canes, but I haven’t tried it yet…I wonder if I can fit more candy canes in that are still in the plastic or out of the wrappers and pre-licked.”
Joel said that putting baubles into his beard isn’t without some discomfort though, admitting that the baubles really ‘pull’ on his facial hair.
He said: “It’s painful to have all those hairs pulling at once. All those baubles add up to about five pounds.”
Joel says that putting the baubles in his beard does help him to get into the festive spirit, however, and he plays Christmas music whilst he gets to work.
Incredibly, it’s not the only beard-related world record that he holds – he is also the world record holder for the most paper straws in a beard (534), the most toothpicks in a beard (3,500), the most golf tees in a beard (607), plus seven more accolades.
The bearded bloke says he’s trying to break as many record titles as he can, referring to himself as ‘crazy’ for breaking so many beard records. He’s encouraging others to get involved too.
Joel said: “Find a category that interests you, decide you can do it, and practice until you do.
“It takes a lot of work for something as silly as this, but the glory is worth it.”
