Erling Haaland has scored 12 goals in seven games for Manchester City and will be keen to improve that record against very familiar foes.
Haaland’s old employers Borussia Dortmund are the visitors to the Etihad Stadium for Wednesday’s Champions League Group G clash.
Pep Guardiola’s side beat Sevilla 4-0 in their opening match last week, while Dortmund were similarly emphatic winners as they swept aside Copenhagen 3-0 at Signal Iduna Park.
City’s scheduled clash with Tottenham at the weekend did not take place, as the Premier League postponed its entire schedule as a mark of respect after the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, while Dortmund were beaten 3-0 at RB Leipzig.

Man City vs. Borussia Dortmund lineups
Kyle Walker and John Stones sat out the trip to Seville and, although the latter is back in training and fit to feature, Guardiola will have to do without his first-choice right-back. Manuel Akanji, a recent arrival from Dortmund, and Sergio Gomez, who spent three years on the German club’s books, made their first City starts last time out and could be retained.
Jack Grealish returned from injury at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan and impressed alongside Phil Foden, who scored City’s second goal. Foden also netted in both legs of the 2021 quarter-final between City and Dortmund.
Man City projected lineup (4-3-3): Ederson (GK) — Cancelo, Stones, Dias, Gomez — De Bruyne, Rodri, Silva — Foden, Haaland, Grealish.
Thorgan Hazard missed Dortmund’s trip to RB Leipzig at the weekend after going off injured before halftime against Copenhagen. Marius Wolf came in as the only alteration to the midweek XI at the Red Bull Arena, but BVB were walloped 3-0.
Giovanni Reyna was Hazard’s replacement against Copenhagen and chipped in with two assists so could get the nod in Manchester. Donyell Malen and Karim Adeyemi will hope to bolster Terzic’s attacking options if they are able to prove their fitness.
Dortmund projected lineup (4-2-3-1): Meyer (GK) — Meunier, Sule, Schlotterbeck, Guerreiro — , Bellingham, Ozcan — Brandt, Reus, Reyna — Modeste.
