Man crashes car into California home, threatens 2 people with pickaxe

A man was arrested in Lake Forest on Monday, May 22, on suspicion of crashing a sedan into a home and threatening two people with a pickaxe, authorities said.

Just before noon, a Kia sedan slammed into the front yard of a residence on the 2200 block of Robin Street, according to Orange County Sheriff’s Sgt. Michael Woodroof. The driver exited his vehicle and produced a pickaxe, which he used to threaten two people at the home.

Arriving deputies were able to subdue the suspect with less-than-lethal weapons, Woodroof said.

He was taken to a hospital for a head injury sustained during the crash. His name was not released on Monday pending his release from the hospital, after which he will be booked and processed.

No one else was injured in the crash or by the pickaxe and the man was not believed to have any connection to the people at the home he crashed into, Woodroof said.
