Holidaymakers can all relate to the frustrating in-flight baggage requirements on budget friendly airlines. If your cabin bag doesn’t meet the requirements of 45 x 36 x 20 cm, then you should expect to splash out a small fortune for the pleasure.

Trying to bypass the airline’s in-flight cabin bag requirements, an EasyJet passenger has gone to extreme lengths to prove that his hand luggage meets the recommended size. A video has skyrocketed online after documenting the customer kicking and hitting his bag to show that his belongings met the criteria against the airline’s measuring tool. The clip posted by TikToker @hotasfo_o has already surpassed a jaw-dropping 23.9 million views to date, and viewers are in stitches over the ordeal.

In the viral TikTok, the man in question was filmed by fellow passengers using the measuring tall as an EasyJet steward watched on in anticipation.

Captioning the post, the onlooker wrote: “Don’t die for EasyJet.”

Despite the man’s several attempts, the steward insisted that the bag still didn’t fit, which resulted in the man merely kicking harder.

The quick-witted customer – who used hand and food to insist that the item met requirements – was left with more than he bargained for as his persistence took a quick turn, and his bag was stuck in the mechanism.

Initially, the incident seemed like no laughing matter, but it soon erupted in fits of giggles, which has even caught on to witnesses on the internet.

The man struggled to remove the bag, pulling the item backward and forward, and proceeded to joke when he was unable to free it.

“Oh well, I’ll have to take this on board then,” the man joked.

One TikToker joked in the comment section: “Seen a guy booking into a hotel with a massive EasyJet sign today one joked.”

Another added: “Man is a hero now the next 40 people can’t measure since it’s stuck.”

EasyJet says that ground crew must ensure that the customers’ bags are within the maximum size to ensure customer’s safety.

An EasyJet spokesperson told The Mirror: “Our ground crew must ensure that customers’ cabin bags are within the maximum dimensions to safely and securely fit where they need to be stowed in the cabin and so customers will sometimes be asked to check this using our baggage size gauges in the airport.

“We clearly inform customers of maximum cabin bag dimensions when booking, via email before they travel and it is also clearly displayed on boarding passes.”
