Manchester United vs. Tottenham Hotspur live score, updates, highlights and lineups from Premier League

Manchester United host Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday bidding to close the gap to the Premier League’s top four.

Last weekend’s goalless draw with Newcastle United left Erik ten Hag’s side three points adrift of the top four and seven behind third-place Spurs, albeit having played a game less.

Will the Red Devils get back to winning ways, or can Antonio Conte’s side underline their credentials as not just top-four challengers but, just maybe, title contenders?

The Sporting News is following the Man United-Tottenham match live and providing updates, highlights, and commentary below.

Manchester United vs. Tottenham predicted lineups

Scott McTominay is back from suspension after missing the draw with Newcastle. Christian Eriksen, who also sat out that match due to illness, could return depending on his recovery from Tuesday’s training. Marcus Rashford was only well enough to appear off the bench versus the Magpies but could usurp Cristiano Ronaldo in the starting XI against Spurs.

Anthony Martial is still out, while Harry Maguire is also battling to be fit, but Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Donny van de Beek remain sidelined. Brandon Williams is training individually outside again, but Axel Tuanzebe is not expected back before late December.

Manchester United predicted lineup (4-2-3-1): De Gea (GK) — Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Shaw — McTominay, Casemiro — Antony, Fernandes, Sancho — Rashford

Spurs were boosted by the news that Richarlison‘s injury is not as bad as feared, but he will still miss this game. Emerson Royal is serving a suspension.

Dejan Kulusevksi could be back after three league games out with a thigh injury, while Conte suggested Lucas Moura may also be back.

Tottenham predicted lineup (3-4-3): Lloris (GK) — Romero, Dier, Lenglet — Doherty, Bentancur, Hojbjerg, Sessegnon — Son, Kane, Perisic

Manchester United vs. Tottenham betting odds

It’s no great surprise that there is little to split these two when it comes to the oddsmakers. United are given the slight advantage that comes with home teams, but they are hardly considered clear favourites against a team who have only lost twice since April.

United games have been tight affairs in terms of the scoreline lately: they beat Omonoia Nicosia (twice) and Everton by a single goal before drawing for the first time under Ten Hag against Newcastle. Perhaps backing another stalemate is the best course of action this time.
