Mexico World Cup fixtures 2022: Complete schedule, match kickoff times, dates for all El Tri games in Qatar

Mexico have established themselves as consistent World Cup qualifiers since 1994 but they have struggled to really threaten the international elite.

El Tri have reached the last 16 in the last seven consecutive World Cups – stretching back to USA ’94 – but they have not reached the quarter finals, since their hosting of the tournament in 1986.

Gerardo Martino’s side powered through CONCAF qualification, with 28 points from 14 games, finishing in second place behind Canada.

However, they face a battle to get out of Group C, alongside Argentina, Poland and Saudi Arabia, with the likely prospect of France in the last 16.

Mexico World Cup group: Group C

Mexico were drawn into Group B as second seeds after qualification with Argentina as first seeds for the group.

With the current FIFA rank of 9th, compared to Argentina (4th), it is the joint closest ranking in Qatar, alongside Spain and Germany in Group E.

Martino will be confident of having a win against Saudi Arabia in reserve for the final group game but the prospect of Robert Lewandowski’s final World Cup appearance will give Poland a boost to challenge for the last 16.
