Michigan vs. Ohio State live score, updates, highlights from 2022 ‘The Game’ football rivalry

It all comes down to this. The annual rivalry game between Ohio State and Michigan is highly-anticipated regardless of how lopsided the two teams are, but for the second consecutive year, both the Buckeyes and Wolverines are facing off with a playoff berth on the line.

It’s not impossible for Ohio State and Michigan to both reach the College Football Playoff, but the loser of this game will likely need some help. The winner will punch its ticket to the Big Ten Championship Game and all but secure one of four playoff spots.

Michigan snapped an eight-year losing streak against Ohio State last year, dramatically locking up its first playoff berth with a 42-27 victory, but the Buckeyes will have the benefit of their home crowd this time around.

While both teams are undefeated, neither has looked perfect. Michigan narrowly escaped Illinois last weekend, hours before Maryland gave Ohio State a scare. It’s possible both teams were looking ahead to this battle.

Beyond the playoff berth on the line, Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud is in a fight with USC’s Caleb Williams for the Heisman Trophy. A win on the regular season’s biggest stage would go a long way for Stroud.

Michigan’s own Heisman contender, running back Blake Corum, isn’t guaranteed to play as he battles a knee injury. If Corum isn’t able to suit up, the Wolverines will have to dig deeper to keep up with the Buckeyes’ offense.
