Microsoft has switched off(Opens in a new window) its function that permitted users to share gameplay clips directly to Twitter from the Xbox console and Windows Game Bar.
Confirming the disabling, Xbox said in a tweet(Opens in a new window): “We have had to disable the ability to share game uploads to Twitter directly from the console and Game Bar on Windows. You can still share your favorite moments to Twitter via the Xbox app for Android and iOS.”
Aside from using the Xbox mobile app, Xbox users can copy their video game clips onto a USB drive and access them from their computer.
Microsoft further stated that from April 25, its Smart Campaigns Multi-platform advertising feature would no longer support Twitter. The feature helps businesses and individuals manage their search advertising in addition to their social media presence across platforms all in one place.
The move means that Xbox users will not be able to access their Twitter accounts through the social management tool, manage, create or schedule tweets, or even look through past tweets.
Microsoft said social media competitors like Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn will still be available on the tool, however.
Xbox did not immediately reply to PCMag’s request for comment on the reason for the function being disabled.
