Minecraft: Bedrock Edition is officially available to play on Chromeboooks today via the Google Play Store(Opens in a new window).
Bedrock Edition was launched in early access form for Chromebooks back in March for $19.99. It includes cross-play, which means players can team up with friends to hunt for resources together in Survival mode on Android, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and Windows.
To play the Chrome OS version, which includes access to Minecraft Marketplace and the ability to play on Realms, you need a Microsoft account. You’re also going to need a compatible Chromebook, which means one that either launched in the last three years or is running ChromeOS 111 or higher, possess 4GB RAM, and has at least 1GB of storage for game installation, maps and other files.
A full list of hardware requirements, included supported processors, is available at the Minecraft Chromebook early access FAQ(Opens in a new window). It’s also worth noting that the minimum specifications may change “over time.”
The Chromebook version of the game includes the Trails & Tails update(Opens in a new window), which features the ability to message friends via new editable hanging signs, share camel rides, and brush for pottery shards. There’s plenty of new mobs, blocks, and items to explore.

Google warns that some players viewing the Google Play Store in their browser may not see an option to purchase the game. If this occurs, they advise players to head to the native Play Store app to install the game instead.
If you’ve been playing a trial version of Minecraft for Chromebook or have existing worlds, unfortunately they won’t transfer over to this full version. However, you will also be able to play the game on Android at no additional cost. Alternatively, if you already own Minecraft for Android, the Chromebook edition should be available at a discounted price.
