MLB Field of Dreams Game live score, updates, highlights from Cubs vs. Reds

There will once again be Major League Baseball played in the cornfields of Iowa.

The Cubs and Reds, two historic National League clubs, will face off in the second edition of the Field of Dreams Game, a matchup in Dyersville, Iowa, next to the set of the iconic film starring Kevin Costner, “Field of Dreams.”

Unlike the White Sox and Yankees playing in last year’s game, this matchup will not be between two playoff teams. The Reds are last in the NL Central at 44-66, and the Cubs are just a game ahead of them in third place at 45-65.

The Cubs will send out veteran southpaw Drew Smyly, who has pitched to a 3.97 ERA with 52 strikeouts, 15 walks and 70 hits in 65.2 innings this season. The Reds will counter with rookie left-hander Nick Lodolo, who has a 4.40 ERA in nine starts, with 58 strikeouts, 20 walks and 48 hits in 43 innings.
