A mum has been left in stitches at the adorable note her daughter sent through the letterbox informing her school has been cancelled for a week. The cheeky youngster tried to trick her mum into allowing her to stay home from school by impersonating “the school company” in a handwritten letter.
It reads: “The school company is taking a brake [break] so the kids will get one more week off school. We will need your child to sign their name here.”
The little girl, named Cara, saved her mum the trouble of signing her name by doing it for her and even went to the effort of stamping on a picture of Rapunzel to really seal the deal.
Sharing the letter on Reddit, her mum wrote: “My daughter got the mail today (it’s Sunday). Apparently, they have another week off school.”
While most users praised the child for their efforts, others shared stories of their own attempts to get time off school as a child.
One user said: “This kid is going places…. specifically school tomorrow.”
Another user added: “I did something similar as a young kid, and thought I was so clever. I signed my teachers name at the bottom and everything.

“My mum read the letter, then asked me if I would do her a quick favour. She asked me to go grab the dictionary and look up the definition of ‘forgery’. I’d never felt so defeated in my life.”
A third user said: “The stamp really makes it legit. No stamp, I would have thought it was fake. One more week for sure.”
It comes after a mum got more than she bargained for when she read through her seven-year-old daughter’s journal with her.
The mum explained how she had been encouraging her daughter to write down how she has been feeling in a diary in an attempt to avoid “temper tantrums”.
She hoped it would help her daughter better understand how she was feeling inside – but couldn’t help but laugh when she read her most recent entry.
The mum said on Reddit : “We’ve been encouraging our seven-year-old daughter to write out her feelings in her journal when she gets upset instead of having a tantrum.”
In her diary, the child wrote: “My mum is a dueshbag [douchebag].’ She also drew a sad face alongside the entry.
Pleased her daughter was using the journal as intended, she was able to see the funny side to the insult.
While most users praised the mum for introducing her daughter to a “healthy way to get her emotions out”, others questioned why she read her daughter’s diary.
However, she explained how the journal is being used as a communication tool rather than a traditional diary – and said she would never read her daughter’s true diary out of respect for her privacy.
