Christmas has now been and gone so millions of people around the world will be left wandering when is the right time to take down the decorations and put them back in the loft ready for next year.

But one woman has acted quickly after Christmas Day and has already taken down her decorations as she ‘can’t bear’ to have them up when she returns to work..

While many of us might hang onto some of the decorations or maybe the tree a little longer, this woman has taken them down already, including the tree which was the last to go.

Taking to the ‘Am I Being Unreasonable?’ forum on Mumsnet, the woman, who remained anonymous, asked the forum: “Whose Christmas decorations are down already?”

She then went onto explain that most of her decorations were taken down on the evening of Boxing Day.

She wrote: “The tree finally went today.

“I’m probably miserable but I can’t bear going back to work and them still being up.”

In response, many people agreed with the sentiment behind the woman’s decision to take them down quickly as many said they could not wait to take down the decorations.

One person wrote: “Ours came down last night, I love the clearing out of the Christmas. They’d been up for three weeks by then.”

While another stated: “Always the day after boxing day, can’t wait to get them down.”

Another person stressed they like to go into the New Year with everything in the house clean and tidy but said the tree will be the last to go in a few days.

They said: “All the decorations are down, but the tree is still up. Will probably take that down on New Year’s Eve. I do like to go into the New Year with everything fresh/clean/decluttered.”

But not everyone has agreed with the move as one person wrote: “Wow. You must hate Christmas!”

The author of the post replied to this and explained her position: “I don’t hate Christmas. I just don’t have an ongoing love for decorations whilst I’m back to work. Plus my birthday is just after new year so good to get rid before then too.”
