A clever mum has opened up about the hack she uses to get her kids from arguing with each other, and says it’s worked like a charm for her family for ‘well for over a year now’. Kellie Henry, who regularly shares videos about parenting and marriage, claims her tried and trusted ‘Day of the Week hack’ works particularly well for children who always fight over where they get to sit in the car.
According to mum-of-four Kellie, this hack helps to keep things fair, and even gets kids to do more of their share of chores around the house, without them even noticing.
Kellie, who vlogs under the TikTok username @oh.henrys alongside husband Dan, revealed that each of her four children will be assigned a day of the week when it’s their turn to do the chores, and will receive more privileges in turn.
Addressing her followers in her recent TikTok video she explained: “On their day they know they have to empty the dishwasher, they have to take out the trash, they have to feed the dog.”
Each child will get special rewards for the day they do chores, for example, getting to pick where they sit in the car, choose dinner options, say the family prayer, and decide what the family watches on TV.
Kellie continued: “It’s so much stress out of my brain and my kids don’t battle about it.”
The vid has since clocked up more than 126.7K likes and counting, with many people praising Kellie’s ‘freaking brilliant’ idea.
One person applauded: “This is a good way to make sure that each kid is getting individualised attention and also learning family responsibility. Love it!”
Another commented: “What a fabulous idea if I knew this when mine were young it would have saved me so many headaches.”
