Elf on the Shelf antics are rarely subtle with children discovering messy rooms and random unexpected gifts in the morning. One mum has taken things to the extreme, leaving everyone stressing about one thing.

TikTok user samgrace_22 filled her entire living room with fake snow for a Christmas surprise for her children. In the viral video the mum can be seen opening a bag of polystyrene beads before hesitating, while a handful of beads drop to the floor.

She stands totally still for a good 20 seconds of the video before taking the plunge and pouring the bin bag full of beads onto her floor.

Two more entire bin bags full of polystyrene are emptied onto the floor before Sam jumps from her sofa into the pile of ‘snow’.

The video, captioned “Turning my front room into the north pole”, has 33million views, 3.6 million likes and 35.9k comments – most of which are saying the same thing.

“Omg the clean up,” said one user. Another joked: “Christmas 2050: still finding them.”

Sam can be seen playing in the beads, making snow angels and throwing it in the air before nestling an elf in the mess.

Users in the comments were laughing at her long pause before taking the plunge and spilling the snow. The top comment said: “You can see the voice in your head say ‘it’s for the kids’.”

Another added: “Now that’s dedication for you it’s the pause before you did it for me. happy Christmas girl x”. A third laughed: “Not you standing there contemplating if it’s a good idea to spill the bag.”

The majority of comments were people freaking out about how hard to clean up those little beads are and how the mum would be finding them for years. One said: “Those are honestly so hard to pick up you will literally be finding them till next Christmas probably even longer than that”.

“That was so painful to watch”, “I don’t like my kids this much” and “have fun cleaning that up” flooded Sam’s comment section.

Many praised the mum for her dedication to her kids, with one user saying: “Imagine in 20yrs time when they’ve got their own kids and remember the magic you created making Christmas for them as kids.”

It turns out this isn’t the first time Sam has done this either as she replied to a comment about how she’ll be finding them for years, saying: “Did it 2 years ago and can confirm I still find them.”

She then posted a follow up video, featuring herself and her child playing in the fake snow with the caption: “it was 100000% worth it”.

Hours later, the mum posted again with a video of the clean up which apparently took four hours. The time-lapse video shows her and her son scooping up fake snow and putting it back into the bags before hoovering up rogue beads and showing the clean living room floor.
