Many of us have heard stories about people not realising they were expecting a child until birth – but they often seem supernatural. However, one man has taken to TikTok to explain his story first-hand of how this phenomenon happened to him.

Baldemar Guerrero took to the popular video-streaming service to explain the surprising ordeal. The TikToker’s video explaining the cryptic pregnancy has surpassed a whopping 760,000 views since posting.

The dad admitted that he went back to sleep when his girlfriend complained of “major back pain” in early hours of the morning, not thinking much of it, but he was awoken by a life-changing surprise.

Captioning the post, Baldemar wrote: “Imagine having your first child not only at very young age but unexpectedly!”

He explained: “This story is about when we didn’t know we were pregnant until birth. So, my wife – girlfriend at the time – was having some major back pains and she woke me up and said ‘hey, my back really hurts’.

“I said, ‘no worries, go back to sleep – everything’s ok’.

“She’s like, ‘no, something’s really wrong’.”

He continued: “I went back to sleep and at the time we were living with family, so she went and told a family member that she needs to go get checked as something is really wrong.

“So, she went to go get checked and this was about two in the morning. She did not get checked until about 7AM.

“She’s waiting the whole time – come to do some blood work and they ask her ‘are you pregnant?’

“And she said, ‘no’. And they said, ‘your blood work says you’re pregnant’.

Baldemar then explained that he received a text from his girlfriend letting him in on the good news, but that’s all he knew.

He went on: “They check her and find out she’s dilating, she’s full-term – nine months full pregnant – and she’s about to give birth today.

“I get a phone call saying, ‘hey, did you know she is pregnant?’ I said, ‘yes’ and they said, ‘baby’s coming today’.

“I said, ‘hold up, we’re having a baby today? This is really happening? This is really my life? Am I on the I didn’t know I was pregnant TV show because I need to call them up’.

“I called up my family to let everybody know this is what’s going on and we’re about to have a baby.

“We had no crib, no clothes, no diapers – nothing! We had nothing to bring a baby home.

“I’m so grateful for my family and friends to be able to support us and shower us literally within those three days of being in the hospital with stuff to bring a baby home.

He concluded: “That’s the story of how we didn’t know we were pregnant until birth.”

The comments blew up on the man’s video, as thousands of viewers shared their shock at the story. In response, Baldemar also confirmed that his son is now seven years old – and is also the “best blessing”.

Flocking to the comments, one person admitted: “My biggest fear is having a cryptic pregnancy.”

“Literally my worst fear,” another added.

However, others shared first-hand stories of their own, proving that an unknown pregnancy is more common than we initially think.

One person claimed: “Same thing happened to me – if I didn’t leave work early because of back pain I would’ve had my son at work.”

“My mom [sic] didn’t know she was pregnant w [with] me lol and I’m a twin so two surprises,” a second penned.

Meanwhile, a different user wrote: “I’ve been pregnant for seven months now and there is no possible way I could look past all the symptoms I’ve had. Belly or no belly.”
