A woman has told how she was left baffled when she noticed that her neighbour had posted a picture of her garden and cottage on her Instagram pretending it belonged to her

If your neighbour likes what you’ve done to your garden and home, then it’s really nice for them to be complimentary and let you know you’ve made the place look lovely. However, what’s a little more unusual is for them to take photographs of your home and pretend that it belongs to them on social media.
That’s what one woman said happened to her on Mumsnet, and she was horrified to read her neighbour’s caption on Instagram, claiming that she’d spent six months doing the cottage up, despite the fact the original poster described the neighbour’s home as ‘a mess’ because she’s currently in the process of doing it up.

She wrote: “My next-door neighbour posted a photo on Instagram of the front garden of my cottage, including the front porch, with the caption that she had spent six months doing up this thatched cottage.
“She is a minor actress and next door where she lives (it’s actually the newest of three homes that she has) is a mess since she is doing it up but there is not one thing in her photo that is her cottage or garden. It is all mine.
“Am I being unreasonable to think this is really cheeky? And is it worth saying anything? My husband says not to fall out with her but I just think it’s really cheeky. What do you all think?”
People were equally confused at why the woman had posted the cottage that didn’t belong to her.
One wrote: “Cheeky! I’d ask a friend to comment that it’s not hers. That’s just weird, why put up anything at all!”
Another agreed, saying: “I would not hesitate in commenting on the post, that’s outrageous!”
Someone else commented: “Get a friend to comment saying that looks like my friend’s house if you don’t want to be too direct.”
One Mumsnetter hilariously wrote: “Just type: OMG! I am so happy you love my house and my garden, followed by many heart-eyes emojis. Happy to share some tips!”
“I would 100% have to comment asking her to take down photos of your house”, one fumed.
