‘My neighbour woke me up at 2.45am mowing his lawn – I’m so tired’

When you live next to other people, there are unwritten rules that you usually follow in order to be considerate to them. You don’t have to be best friends with your neighbours, but there are things you should and shouldn’t do in order to keep the peace with those who live around you. One of those things is not mowing the lawn at unusual times.

One woman took to Reddit’s ‘neighbours from hell’ forum to express her disgust that on the one day she could have a longer sleep than normal, she was rudely awoken at 2.45am to the sound of her neighbour mowing the lawn.

She wrote: “It’s 2:45am where I live and my neighbour is mowing his yard. Hoodie over his head. Shorts on. Just mowing away. There must be a storm coming in a few hours right? Maybe the kid didn’t do his chores? Who knows…

“At least the grass will look fresh. F*** that though, you just woke me up. On my only day to sleep in nonetheless. Thank you, William. Who the hell mows a yard at nearly 3 in the morning?”

People were equally baffled at the unusual behaviour of the neighbour.

One wrote: “A neighbour who is about to have one less mower. I’d call the cops for a noise complaint.”

“Sounds like the start of a Stephen King novel”, another joked.

Someone suggested if he doesn’t normally behave like this, to just write it off as a one-time strange incident, writing: “Guy probably had some s*** he had to work off.

“I would genuinely put it down to that and leave it be until and unless he does it again.”

The original poster commented back: “For sure. That’s why we just sat back and watched. It’s not smart to s*** where you sleep. Especially if it’s not necessary.”
