‘My pal’s hen do is on the same day as my 30th birthday party – now no-one will turn up’

A woman is fuming with her bride-to-be friend for planning her hen-do on the same weekend as her 30th birthday party. The frustrated woman took to Reddit to explain she had sent her birthday invites out early and has been telling friends she wants to make it special since January.

In the post, the woman, who remained anonymous, explained: “In September I decided to tell my friends to save the weekend of November 19 for a party. They all accepted and I was thrilled.

“Fast forward to a week later, I get a wedding invite from one of the people that was invited that she was having her wedding November 26.

“This is all pretty sudden as, they have already been legally married for 7 years. I just wanted to have a wedding and I thought it was a good idea to do it this year!'”

The woman went onto say she accepted the wedding invite as it was for the weekend after but then she was hit with another surprise announcement when she went to confirm her birthday party plans with friends.

She said: “So here I am November 10, and reaching out to confirm the venue and time with everyone. And no one can make it.

“Because this said friend is now throwing her bachelorette party November 19. All of the people who had previously confirmed had thought that I would just have changed it to the weekend before, or that I had known and was just going to cancel.

“I told them I wouldn’t cancel it and change my date and if they could make it that would be great if not unfortunate.”

The woman finished by saying that she is unsure whether to go to the wedding at all now as she feels upset by how all of this has happened.

In response, many have been quick to support the author as one wrote: “It’s not a wedding. They’ve been married 7 years. This is really bizarre. I wouldn’t be going either.”

While another said: “I get some people have a small wedding and a bigger do later on but having a bachelorette party after being married for 7 years is ridiculous.”
