NASCAR at Watkins Glen live race updates, results, highlights from Go Bowling at the Glen

Chase Elliott has been a man on a mission this Cup Series slate.

The Hendrick Motorsports driver has been a menace on the track all year long. He holds a 116-point edge over Team Penske’s Ryan Blaney for the top spot in the Cup Series standings. With 16 top-ten finishes, Elliott has been by far the most consistent racer of the year.

It was no surprise, then, that the 26-year old captured the green flag for Go Bowling at the Glen on Saturday. Elliott outlasted the likes of Kyle Larson and Michael McDowell to take Saturday’s qualifying, his third pole in five road courses this year.

Elliott looks at his best on the road. And given the acute angles and sharp turns present at the Glen, he’ll have to be on his game again to snag the checkered flag. If he does, that would be his fifth win of the season — the same amount of races he won during his Cup Series-winning 2020 season.

Starting lineup for Watkins Glen race

Elliott will lead the way on Sunday. Watkins Glen has tended to be a special place for Elliott in the past; Elliott has snagged three top-three finishes at the track, including two wins — the first of which was his first ever Cup Series victory back in 2018.

He’ll be looking to keep the good times rolling once more on the storied road track.
