With the release of NBA 2K23 upon us, set for Friday, Sept. 9, debates are already beginning around the ratings that have been revealed so far.
On Tuesday, NBA 2K’s official Twitter account began to build up the hype for the game’s release by revealing the ratings for some of the best players in the game. In addition to the top-10 highest overall ratings, they also uncovered the best 3-point shooters and dunkers, the best players from certain countries, and players could also reach out to Ronnie 2K on Twitter and request their rating.

As overalls began to leak out slowly but surely, players were quick to jump on Twitter and Instagram to react to their rating in the newest edition of the game.
While some players were more light-hearted with their jokes (see: Kevin Durant), others were legitimately not happy with how they’ve been assessed (see: Klay Thompson).
NBA players react to their NBA 2K23 ratings
Kevin Durant — 96 overall
Durant was (presumably) joking when he tweeted at Ronnie 2K, saying he believes he should be a 99 overall. Rated a 96 overall, Durant is tied with Stephen Curry, LeBron James, Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid for the second-highest rated players in the game, only trailing Giannis Antetokounmpo (97 OVR).
Aye @Ronnie2K I’m gonna need an explanation on why I’m not a 99? This has become laughable https://t.co/oySQUtcDP2

Jaylen Brown — 87 overall
Brown clearly believes he should be closer to somewhere in the 90s, tweeting at 2K’s official account with a simple message.
@NBA2K stop playing with me

Klay Thompson — 88 overall 3-point shooting
Along with player ratings, 2K revealed that Stephen Curry is the best 3-point shooter in the game with a 99 overall rating. Thompson was tied with a group of players for second place at 88 overall, and he was less than impressed with 2K’s judgment of his game.

Cade Cunningham — 84 overall
Cunningham sat down with Ronnie 2K for his rating reveal, and after coming close to predicting his rating as a rookie, Cunningham hit the nail on the head this time around.
The former No. 1 pick — who had a breakout second half of his rookie season — guessed correctly that he would be an 84 overall to start the season.

MORE: Who are the top-rated rookies in NBA 2K23?
Tyrese Haliburton — 84 overall
Before Ronnie 2K could even tell Haliburton his rating, he joked with the 2K icon, “don’t be on no BS!”
No BS here. We gotchu at 84 📈 https://t.co/k0GTvjShzg

Haliburton didn’t react to his rating, but the Pacers’ rising star is probably pretty happy with an 84 overall to start his third NBA season.
Josh Giddey — 82 overall
There’s something about that 2021 NBA Draft class because Giddey, like Cunningham, also accurately predicted his rating heading into NBA 2K23.
Ronnie 2K told the Thunder guard that he closed the season as an 81 overall, and Giddey assumed he’d be an 82 to start his sophomore campaign.
