Week 17 is off and running after several games on Christmas Day and two on Saturday night, both of which were big for playoff implications.
The Baltimore Ravens aren’t out of it just yet after their win over the Green Bay Packers, but they’ll need the Pittsburgh Steelers to fall to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday in order to stay alive. Their win over the Packers also gave the Chicago Bears the NFC North. The Houston Texans’ win over the Los Angeles Chargers both secured a playoff spot for themselves and eliminated the Indianapolis Colts. It also handed the Denver Broncos the AFC West title.

There are several notable games on Sunday, including the night game between the Bears and the San Francisco 49ers. TreVeyon Henderson is set to make his return from a concussion when the New England Patriots take on the New York Jets, too — which is a must win for them in the race for the top seed in the AFC.
Other notable Week 17 injuries:
-
San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle is questionable against the Chicago Bears. Kittle injured his ankle in Monday Night’s 48-27 win over the Indianapolis Colts. He had seven catches for 115 yards and a touchdown in the game. Kittle missed five games this season with a hamstring injury. He has 52 catches for 599 yards and 7 touchdowns.
-
Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby will sit for Sunday’s game against the New York Giants due to a knee injury. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, it’s the team’s decision to shut down the five-time Pro Bowler “with Crosby’s best interest in mind,” even as Crosby wants to be on the field. Subsequent reports painted Crosby as unhappy with the situation. Jay Glazer of Fox Sports and Ryan McFadden of ESPN both report the pass-rusher left the building after being informed his season was over, with Glazer claiming Crosby “vehemently disagreed” with the decision.
-
TreVeyon Henderson practiced on Friday without a red, non-contact jersey after being in concussion protocol following Sunday night’s win over the Baltimore Ravens. He is set to return. Receivers Kayshon Boutte (concussion) and Mack Hollins (abdomen) have been ruled out.
-
T.J. Watt has been ruled out for the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Week 17 game against the Cleveland Browns days after returning to the practice field. Just two weeks after he suffered a partially punctured lung and had to undergo surgery, Watt took the practice field for the first time on Wednesday as a limited participant, doing individual drills with the defense.

The San Francisco 49ers will likely be without a major contributor when the team takes on the Chicago Bears in Week 17. Tight end George Kittle is unlikely to play after not practicing all week due to an ankle injury, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Kittle hasn’t been ruled out yet, but it’s considered “highly unlikely” he plays. That won’t be the case for wideout Ricky Pearsall, who is likely to go with knee and ankle injuries.
With both the 49ers and Bears already in the playoffs, the game only matters for seeding. Both teams are still in the hunt for the No. 1 seed in the NFC, however, so it should be a highly-competitive contest Sunday night.

Ryan Young
TreVeyon Henderson will be on the field with the Patriots on Sunday when they take on the New York Jets in what should be a huge boost for their offense.

Hollins has an abdomen injury and will miss the final two games of the regular season and could be out for two Patriots playoff games.
The 32-year-old receiver is in his first season in New England. In 15 games, he has posted 550 receiving yards on 46 receptions with two touchdowns.
The Patriots visit the Jets on Sunday and finish the regular season at home next week against the Dolphins.

Watt has missed three games after he suffered a partially punctured lung and had to undergo surgery. The linebacker took the practice field for the first time on Wednesday as a limited participant, doing individual drills with the defense.
Should the Steelers need Watt in Week 18, he’s expected to be available. Otherwise, he will be ready to go for the team’s first playoff game.
-
Sean Leahy
Olave showed up on the Saints’ injury report with a back injury, but was a full participant in practice on Wednesday and Thursday. He was limited on Friday, but that was a precautionary measure to ensure he’s healthy for Sunday.
-
Sean Leahy
Malik Willis will have a key weapon available Saturday night against the Ravens with Watson set to play. The Packers receiver is questionable with an illness, but will be on the field.
-
Sean Leahy
Adams has been dealing with a hamstring issue for weeks and sat out Week 16 against the Seahawks. It’s likely he will miss a second straight game on Monday night against Atlanta.
-
Tarohn Finley
San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle and wide receiver Ricky Pearsall are listed as questionable against the Chicago Bears, according to the 49ers’ injury report.
Pearsall missed last week’s game with an ankle and knee injury. He also missed six games earlier this season with a PCL sprain. Pearsall has 31 receptions for 443 yards.
If Kittle and Pearsall can’t give it a go, expect the 49ers to lean on running back Christian McCaffrey, wide receivers Jauan Jennings and Kendrick Bourne and tight end Jake Tonges in the passing game. McCaffrey leads the team with 849 receiving yards.
-
Tarohn Finley
Philadelphia Eagles wide receivers AJ Brown and Devonta Smith and defensive tackle Jalen Carter will play against the Buffalo Bills, according to the team’s injury report.
Brown did not practice on Wednesday after getting his wisdom teeth removed. Smith was also removed from the injury report after battling an illness this week.
Carter will return this week after missing the last three weeks with shoulder surgery. He is expected to revisit his shoulder injury in the offseason.
While the Eagles have got good news on the injury front, they will be without linebacker Nakobe Dean and offensive lineman Lane Johnson.
-
Sean Leahy
Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby will reportedly sit for Sunday’s game against the New York Giants due to a knee injury.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, it’s the team’s decision to shut down the five-time Pro Bowler “with Crosby’s best interest in mind,” even as Crosby wants to be on the field.
While the Raiders may not want to risk further injury for Crosby, they are also chasing the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft. In facing a fellow 2-13 team in the Giants on Sunday, a defeat would improve their chances and not having their best defensive player would aid in that pursuit.

After sustaining a concussion in Week 16 against the Chicago Bears, Packers QB Jordan Love won’t play against the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday, the team announced Friday. Backup Malik Willis, who finished the game against the Bears, will start in his place. Ravens QB Lamar Jackson’s status is still up in the air.

The Chicago Bears have ruled out wide receiver Rome Odunze for Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers. Odunze will now miss his fourth straight game with a foot injury.
Rookie wide receiver Luther Burden III was removed from the injury report and will play against the 49ers. Burden was limited in practice this week and missed last week’s game against the Green Bay Packers with an ankle injury. Burden has 36 catches for 479 yards and a touchdown this season.
Linebacker T.J. Edwards, cornerback Nahshon Wright and safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson are also questionable against the 49ers. The Bears lead the NFC North at 11-4.
-
Tarohn Finley
Cleveland Browns tight end Harold Fannin Jr. and quarterback Dillon Gabriel are questionable in Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Browns have also ruled out tight end David Njoku. Njoku will miss his third straight game with a knee injury.
Fannin is dealing with a groin injury he suffered in Friday’s practice. Fannin has had 70 catches for 701 yards and 5 touchdowns in his rookie season.
Gabriel has dealt with a shoulder injury. He has backed up Shedeur Sanders since Week 12.
-
Sean Leahy
Gardner will return this weekend against the Jaguars after missing the past three games with a calf injury. Gardner did not practice on Wednesday, but has progressed well enough that he is healthy enough to play.
As Gardner returns, defensive lineman DeForest Buckner will miss the rest of the season after undergoing neck surgery.
-
Tarohn Finley
Tampa Bay Buccaneers left tackle Tristan Wirfs has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins, according to head coach Todd Bowles. Wirfs has been dealing with a toe injury.
He also missed time with an oblique and a knee injury this season. Ben Chukwuma will start in Wirf’s place.
Outside linebacker Anthony Nelson and defensive tackle Calijah Kancey have also been ruled out. The Bucs are 7-8 and have lost three games in a row. They are currently one game behind the Carolina Panthers in the NFC South.

Tarohn Finley
San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle will be a game-time decision on Sunday against the Chicago Bears, general manager John Lynch said on KNBR.
Kittle injured his ankle in Monday Night’s 48-27 win over the Indianapolis Colts. Kittle had seven catches for 115 yards and a touchdown in the game.
The 49ers also hope to get back linebacker Fred Warner for the playoffs. Warner has been out since Week 6 after breaking his ankle. The injury was expected to be season-ending but Lynch said Warner has excelled in his rehab.
Warner had 55 tackles, 3 pass breakups and 2 forced fumbles before he went down this season. Before Warner’s ankle injury, he had only missed one game in his career.
-
Tarohn Finley
New York Jets tight end Mason Taylor and defensive end Will McDonald IV have been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots, according to head coach Aaron Glenn.
Taylor will now miss his third straight game with a neck injury. He has 44 catches for 369 yards and a touchdown in his rookie season.
McDonald has dealt with a knee injury he suffered in Week 16’s 29-6 loss to the New Orleans Saints. He has 30 tackles, 8 sacks and 3 forced fumbles this season.
Glenn also ruled out Jay Tufele and Kiko Mauigoa for Sunday’s game.

Sean Leahy
Allen being cleared to play is no surprise considering his comments earlier in the week.
The Bills quarterback said Tuesday that he “will be playing, planning on playing” against the Eagles this weekend after suffering a foot injury in Week 16.
On Friday, he was a full participant in practice and was removed from the Bills’ injury report.
-
Jason Owens
There’s more bad news for a Baltimore Ravens team that’s fighting for its playoff life.
Lamar Jackson is listed as doubtful for Saturday’s game against the Green Bay Packers with the back injury that sidelined him for the second half of last week’s loss to the New England Patriots.

Steelers star T.J. Watt was limited in practice for the second straight day as he ramps up after missing two games with a partially collapsed lung. Watt had surgery on it and missed the Steelers’ wins over the Dolphins and Lions, but he’s trending toward being available against the Browns on Sunday.
