The NFL is in the process of taking over every holiday from September through February, but the league has had a monopoly on Thanksgiving for nearly a century.
The Thanksgiving slate of games, which routinely comes in among the most-watched sporting events of the year, has become a spectacle itself.
While it’s steeped in tradition, with the Lions and Cowboys both hosting a game in the same time slot each year, the NFL has capitalized on the day by adding a third game in prime-time and turning the halftime shows themselves into an event.

It’s not the Super Bowl, but the league has been able to bring in some big names for recent Thanksgiving halftime shows.
Last year, Detroit native Big Sean performed at halftime of Bears vs. Lions, while country music star Luke Combs took the stage during halftime of Raiders vs. Cowboys.
Here’s what you need to know about who’s performing at halftime this Thanksgiving.
Cowboys halftime performer on Thanksgiving
The Jonas Brothers will take the stage during halftime of the Cowboys’ game against the Giants.
While the Cowboys have had more than a few major names perform on Thanksgiving over the year, the Jonas Brothers are the first to do it twice. They first performed on Thanksgiving for the Cowboys in 2008, when two members of the band were still teenagers.
The show, known as the Red Kettle Kickoff to generate donations to the Salvation Army, is in its 26th year.

Who are the Jonas Brothers?
The Jonas Brothers have transformed themselves from a teenage boy band into a successful pop group.
The band gained fame on Disney Channel in the 2000s, forming when Kevin Jonas, the oldest of the three brothers was just 18 years old.
While the group went on a hiatus in the 2010s and Nick Jonas explored a solo career, the Jonas Brothers announced a comeback in 2019 and continue to perform together.

Lions halftime performer on Thanksgiving
Bebe Rexha will perform at halftime of the Lions’ game against the Bills alongside DJ and producer David Guetta.
Rexha announced the news earlier in the month on her Instagram page.
Though she hasn’t performed during a Thanksgiving halftime show before, Rexha performed at halftime of a game between the Falcons and Rams in 2016. Unlike Big Sean, she doesn’t have any local connection to Detroit.

Who is Bebe Rexha?
Rexha is a pop singer and songwriter who gained national fame after providing vocals for Cash Cash’s “Take Me Home” in 2013.
Rexha won an American Music Award in 2018 for her song “Meant to Be’ with Florida Georgia Line, and she’s also won three Billboard Music Awards.
Guetta and Rexha recently released “I’m Good (Blue)” and have been performing together as the song has risen up charts. Guetta, 55, is a well-known DJ whose name has been attached to several hits over the past decade.
