For the first time ever, New Japan Pro Wrestling and STARDOM will team up to host a joint event on November 20. Inside Ariake Arena in Japan, the event is called Historic X-Over.
World Wonder Ring STARDOM, an all-women’s promotion, was recently acquired by Bushiroad, making it the sister company of NJPW. STARDOM wrestlers will appear at NJPW Strong events in the U.S. and have also made appearances at various Wrestle Kingdom shows.
The event will feature one of the final matches of The Great Muta. Keiji Muto is one of the greatest and most influential wrestlers of all time. He is a former world champion with New Japan Pro Wrestling, All Japan Pro Wrestling, Pro Wrestling Noah., Wrestle-1, and more. In total, Muto has held over 30 titles. Some of his greatest rivals include Sting and Masahiro Chono.
The main event will be the tournament finals to determine the first IWGP Women’s Champion, featuring KAIRI (the former Kairi Sane in WWE) vs. Mayu Iwatani. Considered two of the best female wrestlers today, KAIRI and Mayu will look to put on a match nobody will ever forget.

“When I was with WWE, that was always a mixed environment,” KAIRI said at the NJPW x STARDOM Historic X-Over press event. “On a card full of men, there might be one or two women’s matches. But us women were determined to not lose out to the men. We were working to have the best matches we could. We were in the ring training on off days and doing all we could until we were in that main event spot. I think that STARDOM has the same mentality. It isn’t about mixed wrestling, women’s wrestling, men’s wrestling. It’s about pro-wrestling. That’s what we love, and that’s what we’ll present. I don’t want anyone leaving after the semi-main! Make sure you stay through the main event!”
Other wrestlers on the card include Will Ospreay, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Utami Hayashishita, Syuri, Tomohiro Ishii, and others.
